About the Organization
Serving Chicago's senior community, one full calendar at a time.

Our Mission
Building a Community Where Seniors Continue to Thrive.
Seniors In Motion, Inc. serves the senior community in Chicago, Illinois with activities, events, healthy learning, volunteering, mentoring, and trips. Our members are 55 and older, and they arrive for all kinds of reasons: a spouse has passed, the kids live far away, the doctor said to start moving, or simply because a Tuesday should have something in it.
Founder Nuda Stewart built this organization on a single conviction: life is not over because we are older — it begins with every new day. That belief shapes every program on our calendar, from chair fitness to the first airplane ride of someone's life.
What sets us apart is not scale, it is attention. We know our members' names, their walkers, their birthdays, and what they are still hoping to do.
What We Believe
Four things we do not compromise on
Dignity first
Nobody here is talked down to, rushed, or treated like a burden. Ever.
Nobody alone
Isolation is the health risk we take most seriously. Someone always calls.
Still becoming
Bucket lists, new skills, first flights. It is never too late to start something.
Real access
Seated options, accessible options, and welcoming programs — barriers removed, not explained.
The Vision Ahead
Where we are going next
- Travel with our seniors — bucket-list trips, not just day outings.
- Future Community Garden — Coming Soon: a planned accessible garden where seniors can grow fresh food, learn together, and connect with neighbors.
- Cooking classes and meals for seniors on fixed incomes.
- More fests, dances, and celebrations, hosted bigger and more often.
- Expanded transportation so distance never decides who participates.
- Mentoring that connects our elders with the young people on their block.
